A message from our representative

Nakasako Ryota, also known as Nakasako Sakana, in the studio

Music takes countless forms, and each of us finds our own way to enjoy it and our own reasons to cherish it. Saint-Saëns once turned a lively cancan melody into music for a leisurely tortoise. The same tune, approached with a different idea, can reveal an entirely new character. That freedom is part of what draws us to music.

Throughout history, the making of music has evolved alongside its tools and technologies: advances in instruments and printing, experiments with new tunings, and the profound changes brought by the Industrial Revolution. In that same spirit, we embrace the latest computing technologies and machine learning to explore new possibilities for expression.

Yet what should sound, what should remain, and where should the music fall silent? We believe the responsibility for those essential decisions ultimately belongs to people. Among all the possibilities, choosing the one that feels right: perhaps that very act is where creativity lives.

Alongside composing and playing instruments, I have followed my curiosity into languages, programming, photography and video, travel abroad, electronic circuit design and typesetting. There have been more than a few detours along the way. But experiences gathered on those paths sometimes connect in the most unexpected places.

My hope is to bring the ideas born of those connections into our music and the products we develop, offering a spark of inspiration or a moment that moves you in your creative work and everyday life.
